Bolt Action; D-2. "Time spent on reconnaissance.."

..is never wasted" to quote the old military maxim. As time is of the essence tomorrow, I spent a bit of time looking at potential terrain layouts. As we have an 8'x4' table to battle on tomorrow with two Allied forces assaulting the beach we've tried to get ahead of the game and save valuable gaming time by pre planning the layout. Unfortunately, in our flat, there's only enough room for a 4'x4' table so here's what one half of the table could look like.
The blue and light brown patch are the areas that will be covered, obviously, by the sea and
beach parts of the mat, which leaves about two to two and a half foot by eight foot area for the town.

First attempt. Well, it's nice to get the terrain out and gaze upon the fruits of my labours but that road gives a corking lane of fire straight down it. Potentially the Hun will have an 88mm (we're sticking with the Normandy Theatre Selector lists and Richie does possess an 88mm!!) As it is, my original sketch map called for a bend in the road one one or both flanks with a straight road in the cenntre so...

..this looks like a better option. With a gap on the right for the central or main road we now have a much more pleasing appearance...and that 88mm might not be on this side of the town!!

What I was forgetting is that we have a few bunkers to fit into the terrain so this is another option with space for the BIG bunker in the obvious gap and we can fit in the smaler ones in back gardens or any smaller gap we can make, I'm sure it will all pan out on the morrow, fingers crossed :)
